About the Night
This event starts close to home with the Moon, using its illuminated terrain to explore craters, maria, mountain ranges, and the history written into the lunar surface.
As the evening develops, we turn east toward the returning winter sky. The Pleiades, bright double stars, and Orion become part of the story, making this a transition night between lunar observing and the rich winter season.
The MoonDetailed telescope views of craters, mountains, maria, and changing lunar relief.
The PleiadesA bright open cluster that becomes one of the defining objects of the winter sky.
Orion ReturnsWatch the winter constellations begin taking over the eastern evening sky.
