The Night

As the last fire of sunset fades over Hawaiʻi, the Milky Way cuts through the dark and the great stars of summer descend toward the west. Autumn rises in their wake, opening a gateway beyond our own galaxy. Across two and a half million light-years of intergalactic darkness, Andromeda emerges—a vast spiral of distant suns, carrying light that began its journey long before our species existed. Above the island, an ancient universe is coming into view.

We’ll trace that changing sky with a guided laser tour, then bring it into focus through our 12-inch visual telescope and two dedicated astrophotography systems. From glowing nebulae and dense star clusters to the sweeping structure of Andromeda, you’ll explore the sky at the eyepiece while our cameras gather the light that reveals its hidden color and detail. We’ll bring those views together throughout the night, and send you downloadable copies of the photographs we capture.

A seasonal tour that carries familiar constellations into the new sky rising in the east. Each object holds for five full seconds; constellation introductions hold for seven full seconds. Constellation artwork fades to named bright stars, followed by photographed targets. Vega, Deneb and Altair form the Summer Triangle asterism. Dated event tours omit targets whose seasonal window has not arrived. This is a composition-oriented sky atlas rather than a dated horizon simulation. Star symbols are enlarged. Photographs show long-exposure color and detail. Select the large play button to begin from the start. The globe rotates while waiting; reduced-motion preferences keep it still. A bullseye marks the active object without a text overlay. Its photograph, name, catalog number and one-sentence description appear below the map. During the tour, tap the sky to pause or resume.

Getting thereMeet us on the mountain.

Guests drive themselves to the observing site. We choose one of four mountain meeting locations based on the evening’s weather and viewing conditions, allowing us to put the group where the sky looks best that night. Because this is an outdoor mountain experience, the exact meeting point and observing plan may shift with the weather. Your confirmation email will include the final location, arrival time, directions, and any last-minute updates.
