The Night
Join Deep Sky Hawaiʻi for an extraordinary evening of exploration as we turn our telescopes toward the wonders of the autumn sky. We’ll trace the constellations of Andromeda, Cassiopeia, Cygnus, and Lyra, explore brilliant star clusters and distant nebulae, and journey outward to the magnificent Andromeda Galaxy—our nearest large galactic neighbor. Through powerful visual telescopes, you’ll experience the night sky with your own eyes, while our dedicated imaging observatory gathers ancient photons and transforms them into extraordinary images before you. Along the way, we’ll explore the science behind these distant worlds, the immense distances that separate them, and the remarkable story of our own place among the galaxies. And when the evening ends, you’ll take home the images we captured together—a small piece of the universe, millions of years in the making.

Summer’s stars. Autumn’s galaxies.
Summer Gives Way to Autumn
INTRO · OCTOBER → NOVEMBER
Begin with summer lingering in the west, cross the autumn galaxy fields, then meet the winter constellations climbing in the east.
A seasonal tour that carries familiar constellations into the new sky rising in the east. Each object holds for five full seconds; constellation introductions hold for seven full seconds. Constellation artwork fades to named bright stars, followed by photographed targets. Vega, Deneb and Altair form the Summer Triangle asterism. Dated event tours omit targets whose seasonal window has not arrived. This is a composition-oriented sky atlas rather than a dated horizon simulation. Star symbols are enlarged. Photographs show long-exposure color and detail. Select the large play button to begin from the start. The globe rotates while waiting; reduced-motion preferences keep it still. A bullseye marks the active object without a text overlay. Its photograph, name, catalog number and one-sentence description appear below the map. During the tour, tap the sky to pause or resume.

Getting thereMeet us on the mountain.
Guests drive themselves to the observing site. We choose one of four mountain meeting locations based on the evening’s weather and viewing conditions, allowing us to put the group where the sky looks best that night. Because this is an outdoor mountain experience, the exact meeting point and observing plan may shift with the weather. Your confirmation email will include the final location, arrival time, directions, and any last-minute updates.
